What If I'm Pregnant?

If you think you are pregnant or may be pregnant prior to registration or attending any scheduled classes, you must notify California Dental Certifications. To attend classes, you will be required to provide a medical release from your doctor. Alternatively, you have the option to reschedule for a future class date.

What certification will I receive after completing this program?

Upon completing the program and passing the RDA exam, you’ll earn a Registered Dental Assistant certification from the state of California, allowing you to work in various dental settings.

How much does the RDA exam cost?

The RDA application fee is $120, with an additional $38 fee for fingerprint processing (updated as of October 2024). Student are encouraged to visit Dental Board of California website for latest and most accurate fee structure.

What are the Live Scan fingerprint requirements?

The Live Scan process is a background check required for all dental assistant license applicants. Detailed instructions are available through the Dental Board of California

How long will it take to receive my exam results?

Written results are available immediately upon completion at the testing site, while practical exam results are usually mailed within 4-6 weeks

Is my RDA license valid outside of California?

California’s RDA license is not directly transferable to other states, as each state has its own licensing requirements. However, some states may consider California licensure as part of their requirements. Please visits respective state's licensing website for latest information.

Do I need to take this course if I’m already licensed in another state?

If you hold a dental assistant license from another state, you may still need to fulfill specific California requirements and pass the California RDA exam to practice here. Taking our course is an excellent way to maximize your chances of success on the RDA exam and ensure you’re fully prepared for California's standards.

What continuing education requirements will I need to fulfill?

To maintain an active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license in California, you must complete 25 continuing education (CE) units every two years.
